The rotational speed of bearing plays a key role in the temperature rising factor of bearing. Each bearing type has its own limit rotational speed, which is determined by physical characteristics such as size, type and structure. The limit rotational speed refers to the high working speed of bearing (usually R / min). Exceeding this limit will lead to the increase of bearing temperature, the drying of lubricant, and even the seizure of bearing.

The speed range required for the application helps to determine what type of bearing to use. Most of the bearing manufacturers' catalogues provide the limit speed value of their products. Practice has proved that it is better to work under 90% of the limit speed.

According to the requirements of rotating speed for bearings, the following points are emphasized:

A ball bearing has higher limit speed and rotation accuracy than roller bearing, so ball bearing should be preferred at high speed.

B under the condition of the same inner diameter, the smaller the outer diameter is, the smaller the rolling element is, and the smaller the centrifugal inertia force exerted by the rolling element on the foreign raceway is, so it is suitable for working at higher speed. Therefore, at high speed, it is better to choose bearings with smaller outer diameter in the same diameter series. If a bearing with a smaller outer diameter can not meet the requirements of bearing capacity, the same bearing can be installed together, or a wide series of bearings can be considered.

The material and structure of C cage have great influence on bearing speed. The solid cage allows a higher rotational speed than the stamping cage, and the bronze solid cage allows a higher rotational speed.

In general, deep groove ball bearing, angular contact bearing and cylindrical roller bearing are suitable for high speed working conditions;

Tapered roller bearings can be used at low speed.

The limit speed of tapered roller bearing is about 65% of deep groove ball bearing, 70% of cylindrical roller bearing and 60% of angular contact ball bearing. The limit speed of thrust ball bearing is low, so it can only be used in the situation of low speed.
